Denewulf District

Denewulf District

On the 31st January 2022 both Fareham East District and Meon Valley District scouts were closed and merged into a new District within scouting. After a poll within the Districts and after county approval Denewulf District was born.

Denewulf is a name that links the two Districts and has some clear historical background. He was a Bishop of Winchester when, in 904, he exchanged land in Portchester for land at Bishop’s Waltham, where the ruins of the palace stands and so forged an historic link between the two towns. The name has no specific geographical connotation, meaning it is a new name that we can all be part of in the future.

Scout Band

We are lucky enough to have a Scout Band within the District, The Fareham Scout band is a traditional marching band. The band gives opportunities for those within scouting to lean an instrument  and take part in performances. Locally this incudes events such as St. Georges Day and Titchfield Carnival.

2nd Fareham has frequently had members of the group also be members of the Scout Band.
